We shouldn’t repeat history

Companies have a long history of exploiting users who don’t fully understand the terms they agree to—sometimes with devastating consequences

Opaque data collection practices (e.g., Cambridge Analytica, PRISM) have eroded personal privacy and fueled mass surveillance and targeted advertising

Contracts have become dangerously one-sided—allowing companies to change terms at any time, without user agreement. This is unacceptable.

Despite regulations like GDPR & CCPA, companies continue to fail at transparency—leading to over $4B in fines. Users still lack control over their data.

What success looks like

  • Eliminating Unilateral Contract Changes and calling out companies who still practice this

  • Public grading system of companies’ policies via our browser extension

  • Creating ‘Nutrition Label’ Standardized, Readable Privacy Summaries - easy, scannable, and comparable where users can asses risk at a glance

  • Transparent, Consumer-Centric Contracts that clearly spell out how and why customer data is used

  • Consumers understand what benefits (or risks) they gain in exchange for their data

  • Enabling users to easily opt-out of changes to agreements or how their data can be used
